CHANNEL: OPENMathias can aquaplane like a pro!
On Friday we had some great runs at Kakumäe Beach with the Glade Runner. Even though there were more waves than we guessed by the wind, the boat aquaplaned nicely. Margo still needs to learn to pilot the boat, every turn attempt resulted in a 180 twist. Mathias on the other hand drove like a pro even when aquaplaning!
Max runs and drives
Last night, we finished putting the final touches on Max, and this morning we got to do our first test laps in the garden. Head over to our Google Photos album to see! One front wheel needs a camber adjustment, but everything else is working perfectly. Stay tuned for some epic off-road videos of Max!
Repairs and upgrades
Mathias is away at grandparents'. Margo has been working on a show body for Godzilla, foam inserts for Anelle, ordering last parts for Max, and installing minor upgrades on Raptor. Also got bigger batteries for T4 and flew it with a GoPro.
Godzilla's wheels are working properly
We got rid of the tire slipping effect. We took off the original axles and replaced them with longer, improved ones. And now we got ourselves a drift car!
Aquaplaning like a boss
Beautiful, calm summer evening. We took Glade Runner out to Kakumäe and it aquaplaned like a boss. As Mathias gets better piloting it, we're getting some nice long gliding arcs in the sunset on the plane. Update on Max: we received the axles today, still waiting on 3 wheels, driveshaft and diff components to finish out the build.
Max on hold, Glade Runner gliding
Guess who ordered one tire, instead of four, for Max. And forgot completely about the parts for diff. Yup :) So we're on hold for a bit. Meanwhile, had great fun with Glade Runner at Kakumäe the other evening. Had two other dads with kids come and ask about our projects. Invited them to join the hobby.
Max is on assembly line
All 145 parts have been printed (see our photo album). All electronic components have been ordered. Mathias started the build today. We're making a timelapse, which you will be able to see later.
Busy weekend
We never made it to Aviation Days. But we did fix Glade Runner and had some great runs, check our Youtube. We also fixed Raptor, printed almost all parts for Max the rockcrawler and made a nice new GTR sign for Godzilla.
